The final pagecontains the famed historical letter penned by Nachmanides to his son, describing the destitute condition of Eretz Israel following the invasion of the Tatar hordes in the year 1260. Nachmanides sums up the dismal state of affairs stating: “An underlying principle is, the more holy the place, the more desolate. - Jerusalem is more desolate than the rest of the Land, and Judah more desolate than the Galilee.”
