הגרטל האישי של האדמו”ר מסקאליע, רבי ישראל אברהם פורטוגל (תרפ”ג-תשע”ט). - PORTUGAL, YISROEL AVROHOM (Grand Rebbe of Skulen, 1923-2019). Personal 14-string Gartel. Note attached: “Gifted… 6/21/08. The [Rebbe’s] personal well used gartel.” Length: 90 inches (228 cm). The last Holocaust-era Rebbe to lead a Chassidic sect. The son of R. Eliezer Zushye Portugal (1898-1982), he and his father were finally allowed to leave Communist Rumania for the United States in 1960. PROVENANCE: From the estate of an individual who had personal relations with the Skulener Rebbe. He received this Gartel as a gift to express thanks for services rendered.
