R. Ya’akov Elimelech Paneth was the Admor of Dej, succeeding his father, R. Yechezkel Paneth (1870-1929), who served jointly as Rebbe alongside his brother R. Yitzchak Yechiel.

R. Ya’akov Elimelech was killed in Auschwitz along with his family. Two volumes of his derashoth were posthumously published, entitled: Zichron Ya’akov (Brooklyn, 1953).
