Letter Signed, written in Hebrew to “The Residents of Boro Park, New York.” A letter of thanks for financial contribution, along with blessings. One page, with integral blank. Vienna: Thursday of Parshath Beshalach 1928 Son of the first Rebbe of Chortkov, R. Duvid Moshe (1828–1903) and son-in-law of Rabbi Avraham Ya'akov of Sadigura (1820–83); who were each, the sons of R. Yisroel of Ruzhyn. Among the founders of Agudath Israel, R. Yisroel Friedman of Chortkov was a remarkable Chassidic leader with thousands of followers including many Torah giants such as Rabbi Meir Shapira of Lublin, and Rabbi Meir Arik of Tarnow. Due to the upheavals of World War I, the Rebbe left Galicia and re-established his court in Vienna.
