Lightly browned. 8vo Buenos Aires: 1953 General Peron’s declaration of sympathy for the rights of Jews and support for the State of Israel. General Peron’s accession to power raised fears among Argentina’s Jewish population due to his close association with the Fascist organization Alianza Libertadora Nacionalista. These concerns were partially dispelled by the introduction of an anti-discrimination clause into the Argentinian Constitution in 1949. On November 6th, 1953, Peron’s historic declaration of sympathy for the rights of Jews and for the State of Israel offered further security to Argentina’s Jews. However, despite these measures, anti-Semitic attacks and neo-Nazi activity continued to occur.
