REGUER, SIMCHAH ZELIG (Av Beth Din of Brisk, 1864-1942). Autograph Letter Signed and stamped on plain paper, written in Hebrew to Rabbi Reuven Katz. Letter of recommendation for a student worthy for admission to Yeshivas Petach Tikvah. One page with integral blank, two punch-holes. 8vo. Brisk: 10th Teveth 1937 R. Simcha Zelig received the Beth Din appointment in Brisk at the insistence of his close friend R. Chaim Soloveitchik. Many of the leading rabbis of the 20th century received Semicha from him. R. Reuven Katz (1880-1963) was a Torah scholar of note in Lithuania before he emigrated to the United States, where he served for a short time as rabbi of Bayonne, NJ. In 1932 he settled in Petach Tikvah, where he led his prestigious yeshiva. He compiled the Talmudic commentary Degel Reuven and Duda’ei Reuven on the Torah.
