A legal document in which the rabbi pledges to repay all debts incurred by his son, R. Modechai Ze’ev Orenstein, following his marriage. Various additional signatures. One page. Tall folio. Lemberg: 1811 R. Ya‘akov Meshulam Orenstein was a prominent rabbi in Lvov, one of Poland’s most important communities. He maintained strong ties with the great Torah luminaries of his time and exercised much influence over the Galician rabbinic elite.
