One the outstanding leaders of the Polish Jewry, he was one of the founders of Agudath Israel and member of the Mo’etzeth Gedolai HaTorah. Among his sons was R. Yitzhak-Meir Levin, son-in-law of the Imrei Emes of Ger and one of the signers of the Israel declaration of independence.
