Pisac Peru Polychrome Pottery Jaguar Handle Pot - The squat, globular body is divided into panels containing cross-hatched triangles, stepped frets, and diamond shapes with internal crosses. The underside of the base shows no maker's marks or signatures, though it displays uneven firing marks and localized discoloration typical of traditional regional pottery. The handles are modeled with distinctive spotted patterns and stylized facial features. Width: 5 1/2 inches The pot is in fair vintage condition with signs of significant previous repair. A prominent vertical crack is visible running from the rim through the body. There is fine crazing to the glaze throughout the exterior surface. Minor loss of pigment and small chips are present on the feline handles, specifically at the ears and mouths.
