Japanese Carved Group of Netsuke - The carvings feature fine incised detail, known as kebori, to define textile patterns, facial features, and hair. Each piece contains himotoshi (cord holes) for functional use as a toggle. Two circular geometric designs or mon are present on the back of the standing figure holding a staff and peach, but no legible maker signatures or names are visible on any of the pieces. The collection displays a varied natural patination ranging from cream to deep amber. Height: 2 inches (bowing figure) Height: 1.25 to 1.75 inches (remaining figures). The collection is in good antique condition overall, showing signs of age and historical handling. Stable drying cracks are visible. Small chips and material losses are present, specifically to the top of the staff and hat of the standing immortal figure, and the hat of the figure with the crane. A small white restoration or fill is visible on the staff and head of one standing figure. All himotoshi holes are intact.
