Enamel & Gilt Metal Miniature Galante Salon Chairs - A pair of antique-style miniature salon chairs crafted from gilt metal with enamel decoration. The frames feature ornate rococo-style scrollwork and are supported by four cabriole legs. Each chair contains two hand-painted enamel panels depicting scenes in the Galante style. One chair features a woman in a pink dress holding a fan on the backrest and a man in purple attire playing a lute on the seat. The second chair depicts a woman in a yellow dress with flowers on the backrest and a man in orange and red attire playing a lute on the seat. The reverse of the backrests and the underside of the seats are finished in a translucent turquoise blue enamel. The frames are unmarked. Height: approximately 2 1/4 inches The chairs are in very good antique condition. The enamel panels on the seats and backrests are intact with no visible chips, cracks, or spidering. The gilt metal finish shows light wear and darkening in the recessed areas of the casting consistent with age. The turquoise enamel on the undersides and backs shows minor surface scuffing and shelf wear. The structures are stable and the metal legs are straight.
