Gilt Metal & Enamel Miniature Rococo Armchairs - A pair of miniature decorative armchairs crafted in the Rococo style, featuring ornate openwork gilt metal frames. The backrests and seats are inset with enamel plaques depicting classic 18th-century fete galante scenes. The first chair displays a young man in a pink coat with a book on the backrest and a lady in a pink gown on the seat. The second chair shows a lady with a fan on the backrest and a man playing a lute on the seat. The reverse sides of the backrests and the undersides of the seats are finished in a vibrant, translucent turquoise blue glaze. Each chair is supported by four cabriole legs and features curved arms with flat rests and pierced gallery detailing around the seat frames. The metal shows a cast texture with visible seam lines. All enamel surfaces are unmarked, and no maker's name or signatures are present on the metal or glazed surfaces. Height: 2 1/4 inches The armchairs are in good overall condition, showing light wear to the gilt finish on high-contact areas such as the armrests and legs. The enamel plaques are well-preserved with minor surface scratches and faint crazing consistent with age. There is a visible gap at the structural join between the seat frame and backrest on one chair, and a small area of dark oxidation is present on the metal filigree surrounding the turquoise enamel on the reverse of the second chair. The pieces are structurally sound despite these minor cosmetic imperfections.
