Alvin Sterling Overlay Emerald Green Glass Vase - This Art Nouveau tapered quatrefoil vase is crafted from blown emerald green glass featuring a heavy sterling overlay. The silver deposit is executed in a pierced, scrolling foliate design with fine engraved hatching and decorative detailing throughout the pattern. The four-sided body flares into a wide, quatrefoil rim encased in silver. The lower silver rim is stamped with the numbers 52 / 87 followed by the word STERLING and the Alvin Manufacturing Company hallmark, consisting of an A within a shield, a saltire, and a hammer. Height: 8.5 inches. The vase is in poor antique condition due to significant structural damage to the glass. Multiple large impact fractures and cracks are clearly visible at the neck and rim area, extending downward into the body. The silver overlay remains largely intact and provides some structural support, though it exhibits moderate tarnish and surface scuffing consistent with age.
