Singer 221 Featherweight Portable Sewing Machine & Case - A vintage Singer Model 221 Featherweight portable electric sewing machine featuring a black japanned finish with gold-toned scrollwork and geometric decals. The machine is constructed of cast aluminum and chrome-plated steel hardware. The arm is marked SINGER on the front and THE SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. on the reverse. A gold-toned brass badge is affixed to the pillar reading THE SINGER MANFG. CO. with a central S logo, beside a small plate stamped 221-. The motor bears a label for CAT. 3-120 with technical specifications for 110-120 volts, identifying manufacture at the ELIZABETHPORT, N.J. factory. This lot includes a foot controller marked PART NO. 194584, a black textured hard-sided carrying case with dual latches, two case keys, and an instruction manual with a 1955 copyright date. Accessories include a green cardboard box labeled SINGER SEWING MACHINE ATTACHMENTS containing various presser feet, a metal tray with bobbins, and two vintage packages of Singer needles. Machine Length: 15 inches Case Height: 11.5 inches. The machine is in good vintage condition with minor surface dust, light oils, and small chips to the black finish at the base edges and spool pin area. Decals remain largely intact with light age-related wear. The rubber motor belt is heavily cracked and requires replacement. The green attachment box has a tear at the front tab and shows edge wear. The carrying case shows light exterior scuffs and oxidation to the metal hardware. The machine is untested for operational functionality due to the degraded belt.
