King Story of the War of 1898 Collier 1901 - An oblong folio edition titled The Story of the Spanish-American War and the Revolt in the Philippines, authored by Lieutenant W. Nephew King, U.S.N. This historical volume features contributions for the Army by Major-General O. O. Howard and for the Navy by Captain Robley D. Evans. Published by Peter Fenelon Collier & Son, New York, the title page is dated MCMI (1901), with an 1898 copyright date assigned to Peter Fenelon Collier. The work is bound in red publisher's cloth with a decorative gilt-stamped cover designed by George Wharton Edwards, featuring a central title panel flanked by illustrations of a military tent and a battleship. The interior is profusely illustrated with black and white photographs, drawings, and full-page color plates by artists such as Henry Reuterdahl and H. C. Christy, including a large fold-out color plate depicting the destruction of the Spanish fleet under Admiral Cervera. Width: 17.5 inches Height: 12.5 inches.
