Oil Painting Genre Scene - Oil painting on canvas depicts a charming musical genre scene featuring a young girl accompanied by a smaller child who holds a broadside or sheet of music titled VITTORIO EMANUELE, featuring a small portrait. The work is executed with expressive brushwork and a vibrant color palette. A handwritten artist signature is located in the lower right corner, reading A. G. Allen. The painting is housed in a substantial, ornate gilded composition frame. Frame: 16.5 x 14.5 inches. The painting and frame are in fair condition. The canvas shows significant areas of flaking and paint loss. There is visible craquelure and surface dirt throughout the composition. The ornate frame exhibits multiple cracks, losses to the composition ornament at the corners and edges, and areas of exposed red bole and white gesso where the gilding has worn away.
