3 Vintage Children's Books - This assortment of three vintage children's books includes a 1916 edition of Spark: The Story of a Puppy and His Dog Friends by R. G. Mendel, published by Whitman Publishing Co. in Racine, Wisconsin. The volume features a green cloth spine and paper-covered boards with black and white line drawings of various dog breeds, including an English pug. The second book is a 1954 copyright printing of The Golden Book of Indian Crafts and Lore by W. Ben Hunt, published by Simon and Schuster, Inc., and Artists and Writers Guild, Inc. This large-format softcover volume contains color instructional diagrams for creating traditional items, such as a Chippewa Mide bustle, and a guide for tribal name pronunciation. The final item is a Teddy Tail Annual from Juvenile Productions Ltd. of London, featuring adventures of the Daily Mail newspaper character in both color comic strips and text stories. The collection is in fair overall vintage condition, with wear consistent with age and use. Spark exhibits significant chipping and paper loss to the board edges and corners, as well as weak interior hinges. The Golden Book of Indian Crafts and Lore displays heavy rubbing and creasing to the covers, and the spine has been reinforced with white tape along its entire length. The Teddy Tail Annual shows bumped corners, surface rubbing, and general edge wear, though the binding remains functional. Interior pages throughout the lot demonstrate light toning and occasional foxing.
