Gilt Cast Metal Cherub Table Lamps - A pair of table lamps featuring seated cherub figures in the Rococo Revival style. Each figure is cast in metal with a gilt finish and sits atop a highly ornate, scalloped base decorated with scrolling acanthus leaves and floral medallions. While similar in overall design and scale, the lamps feature distinct castings with variations in the cherub poses and the decorative motifs of the bases. Each figure supports a fluted central stem leading to a standard electrical socket. The sockets are stamped EAGLE in raised block lettering, referring to the manufacturer of the electrical components. The lamps retain their original gilt finish over a white metal core and are weighted with oxidized iron plates on the undersides. Height: 13 inches The lamps are in fair to good vintage condition. There is general wear to the gilt finish, particularly on high points and edges, revealing the base metal beneath. Surface oxidation and rust are present on the iron weighted plates at the bases. One lamp base exhibits a notable break and loss to the metal casting on the bottom rim. Both lamps are functional and in working order.
