Bidspirit auction | Two Pieces of American Brilliant
Two Pieces of American Brilliant Period Cut Glass - This lot features two pieces of heavy lead crystal from the American Brilliant Period, characterized by deep miter cuts and high clarity. The first item is a footed trumpet vase with a flared form and a scalloped sawtooth serrated rim. The second item is a tapered cylindrical vessel, serving as a small vase or large tumbler. The exterior is decorated with a whirling star or pinwheel motif within teardrop-shaped frames, alternating with large fan-cut accents and cross-hatched panels. The base is finished with a rayed star. Both items are executed in the style of prominent American firms from the late 19th to early 20th century, though no maker marks or signatures are present. Footed Vase: Approximately 10 inches tall Tapered Vase: Approximately 7 inches tall. The footed trumpet vase has a notable chip to one of the serrations on the sawtooth rim. The tapered vase shows minor surface wear to the base. Both pieces exhibit minor flea bites and slight roughness to the sharp edges of the cuts, which is consistent with age and use. The lead crystal remains bright and clear without internal clouding.
