Austin Productions Sculpture of Spinario (Boy with Thorn) - This cast composite sculpture is a reproduction of the classical Spinario (Boy with Thorn) motif, manufactured by Austin Productions in 1971. The work depicts a seated youth intently focused on removing a thorn from the sole of his left foot, a pose derived from ancient Greco-Roman bronze originals. Measures 15.5 inches tall. The sculpture is in fair condition with several notable defects. There is a significant puncture or deep chip on the leg that exposes the gray interior composite material. A visible hairline crack is present at the back of the neck. There are areas of surface wear and minor finish loss throughout the bronze-toned patina, most notably on the hair and the raised textures of the base.
