Chinese Archaic Style Bronze Guang Ritual Wine Vessel - This cast bronze ritual wine vessel, known as a guang or gong, is a modern reproduction created in the archaic style of the Shang or Western Zhou dynasties. The vessel is fashioned as a composite mythical beast with a removable lid. The lid features a spout shaped as a ram head with large curled horns and prominent eyes, while the rear handle is designed as a stylized dragon with a scrolled tail. The exterior surfaces are decorated with cast motifs including taotie masks, leiwen thunder patterns, and vertical notched flanges. The vessel is finished with an applied mottled verdigris and dark brown patina to simulate an ancient appearance. It rests on a rectangular pedestal base. An accompanying informational tag identifies the item as a Ram-God Wine Goblet and attributes its manufacture to artisans at the Hubei Provincial Museum. No cast or incised marks are present on the exterior or the base of the vessel. Height: 5.5 inches Length: 8 inches Width: 2.75 inches The vessel is in good condition.
