Mexican Copper Bat Mask - This cast copper alloy mask is a stylized representation of a bat or feline, consistent with vintage Mexican copper folk art. The form features two large, flared ears and a rounded face decorated with raised relief lines. The eyes are almond-shaped with central circular apertures, and the muzzle is defined by three raised ribs on each side suggesting whiskers. Suspended from the base of each ear are two flat, teardrop-shaped dangles featuring raised serpentine motifs. The mask is hollow-cast with an irregular mouth opening and two smaller circular openings near the nose. The surface exhibits a heavy, encrusted verdigris and malachite-colored patina with visible areas of reddish-brown cuprite oxidation. Small holes are drilled along the rim for suspension or mounting. No maker marks or reign marks are present on any surface.
