Italian 800 Silver Carnelian Shell Cameo Brooch Pendant - An oval hand-carved carnelian conch shell cameo depicting a classical female profile facing right. The subject features elaborate upswept hair, a single drop earring, and a bead necklace. The cameo is mounted in a Continental 800 silver frame with a gold-washed finish. The setting is decorated with an inner rope-twist border and an outer openwork scalloped filigree edge. The reverse is equipped with a pin and safety clasp for use as a brooch, as well as a hinged folding bail for use as a pendant. Length: Approximately 1.5 inches (38 mm) Weight: 10.3 grams. The shell is in good condition with no visible cracks or chips. The carving remains sharp. The silver setting shows surface tarnish and wear to the gold wash, particularly on the raised edges and reverse. The pin mechanism and pendant bail are functional.
