Philco Model 40-158 Art Deco Console Floor Radio - This item is located on the second floor. This Philco Model 40-158 console floor radio, manufactured circa 1940, features a wooden Art Deco style cabinet with book-matched veneers and a patterned fabric speaker grille. The grille is accented by three vertical wooden fins. The front panel includes the Philco logo positioned above four control knobs and a horizontal multi-band tuning dial. The dial is housed in a marbled plastic bezel and identifies frequencies for broadcast, police, amateur, and aircraft bands. The open back reveals the original metal chassis, marked Model 40-158 Code 121, which contains multiple glass vacuum tubes and a large speaker. Several original paper labels remain attached to the interior, including a tube layout diagram and a notice regarding television sound reception. 37 x 23.25 x 10.75 inches The radio is presented in an unrestored, as-found condition. The wooden cabinet exhibits signs of age and use, including visible scratches, scuffs, and finish loss at the base. Water rings are present on the top surface. The marbled plastic dial bezel shows a small crack at the top mounting screw. Untested.
