A Collection of Nine Late 19th Century Mother-of-Pearl Handled Flatware Pieces, including J. Russell & Co. Knives and a Sterling Silver Serving Fork - A collection of nine pieces of mixed flatware from the late 19th century, featuring mother-of-pearl handles and ornate silver-colored metal ferrules. The collection comprises six knives of varying blade finishes, each marked ”1884 J. RUSSELL & CO. 12” on their blades. Also included are two smaller forks, one of which is marked ”MADE IN ENGLAND EPNS” (Electro-Plated Nickel Silver). The lot is completed by one large serving fork, which exhibits elaborate engraving on its tines and sterling silver hallmarks on its ferrule, including a maker's mark ”CB”, a crown, a lion passant, and a date letter 'B'. Large serving fork: 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) Smaller forks: 5.5 inches (14 cm) and 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) Knives: Approximately 7.5 inches (19 cm) Condition is fair to good. Mother-of-pearl handles are generally good with minor surface wear consistent with age. Metal components exhibit significant age-related wear, including varying degrees of tarnish, surface scratching, and discoloration, particularly noticeable on the knife blades. One smaller fork is EPNS, the large serving fork is sterling silver, and the knives are silver-colored metal.
