A Pair of Bessie Pease Gutmann Decorative Ceramic Tiles, Dated 1923 - A Pair of Bessie Pease Gutmann decorative ceramic tiles, featuring sentimental illustrations of young children. The left tile depicts a girl with a pink bow in her hair standing in shallow water at a beach, rendered in muted greens and browns. The right tile showcases a curly-haired toddler in a pink dress holding a doll, with another doll on the floor and a frieze of white cats along the top, signed ”BESSIE PEASE GUTMANN” in the lower left. Both illustrations are printed on rectangular ceramic tiles, housed within simple, natural-toned wooden frames. The reverse of the right frame is marked ”1923” and ”-509 A”. Each frame measures approximately 9.5 inches (24.1 cm) high x 7.5 inches (19.1 cm) wide.
