A Pair of Books: The Complete Works of William Shakespeare and Nathaniel Hawthorne - The lot comprises two bound books. The first is ”THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE,” The Cambridge Edition Text, edited by William Aldis Wright, illustrated by Rockwell Kent, published by The Blakiston Company, Philadelphia, and copyrighted 1936 by Doubleday Doran & Co., Inc., ”Printed in the U. S. A.” This volume is clad in a plain blue cloth cover. The second volume contains ”The Scarlet Letter” and ”Twice-Told Tales” by Nathaniel Hawthorne, noted as ”Printed in the United States of America.” This smaller volume is bound in green cloth or board, featuring ornate gilt tooling in an architectural and foliate style with a central blank cartouche, and a section of darker, possibly aged leather, on the spine.
