All the Issues of the Leaflet "Kol Negba" – The Battle Over Kibbutz Negba during the War of Independence, 1948
A volume compiling all 47 issues of the "Kol Negba" (The Voice of Negba) leaflet – a typewritten, mimeographed leaflet published during the bitter battles over Kibbutz Negba during the Israeli War of Independence. May 25, 1948 to November 23, 1948.
The issues of the "Kol Negba" leaflet, edited by Asher Richter and Tzvikah Lubliner, were mimeographed in a small number of copies and were distributed among the fighters, residents of Kibbutz Negba, and the forces of the Givati Division and the Negev Division which stood by them during the battles against the Egyptian expeditionary forces in 1948.
The issues contain reports about the battles, information about the wounded and the fallen, words of encouragement and support, updates on the daily life of the Kibbutz, and more. The motto "Af Al Pi Chen" (Nevertheless) appears at the beginning of each issue.
At the beginning of the volume appears an introduction by Asher Richter (23.11.1948) in which he presents the idea underlying the publication of the leaflet: "A week after Negba became the front line, the secretariat of the Kibbutz thought of the idea of publishing a daily leaflet for delivering information and encouraging the fighters… on grave days, the leaflet appeared daily, refuted rumors… and strengthened morale".
The last issue, from December 23, 1948, was printed with the conquering of the Iraq-Suwaydan police fort by the IDF forces and the end of the siege on the Kibbutz and describes the return to the routine of life.
47 issues (number of pages varies between the issues), bound together in a new binding. 32.5 cm. Good condition. Stains (many stains on the first issue).
