Mishneh Torah by the Rambam - Amsterdam, 1702 - Complete Set of Four Elegant Volumes
Mishneh Torah by the Rambam, complete set of four volumes. Amsterdam, [1702-1703]. The most accurate edition of the Rambam's books, which served as the basis for most subsequent editions. The first volume has a second, copper-engraved title page. Two volumes with illustration plates pertaining to the laws of Shabbat, Sukkah, Kiddush HaChodesh and Kilayim. Four volumes. Vol. I: [9], 327, [4] leaves; [2] illustration plates (bound between leaves 139-140). Vol. II: [1], 4, [1], 5-227, [4] leaves (the second leaf with the proofreader's words was bound out of sequence, after leaf 4). Vol. III: [1], [1] illustration plate, 368, [9] leaves. Vol. IV: [1], 309, [13] leaves. 37 cm. High-quality paper. Overall good condition. Stains. Early bindings, with leather spines. Covers rubbed. The illustration plates were bound in this copy at the beginning or in the middle of the volumes, even though the printers indicated in the book that they are found at the end of the book: "See illustration at the end of the book…", "See diagram at the end of the book…". There are other copies in which the illustrations were bound at the beginning or end of the volumes.
