Four decorative bowls, products of the Zel Zion company, marked on back "Zel Zion Tel Aviv" (Hebrew) and "Made in Israel" (English). Tel Aviv, [ca. 1948 / ca. 1950s].
Brass, cast and turned; copper, turned; applied verdigris patina.
1. Decorative mandolin-shaped bowl. At center, cast plaque featuring the biblical scene of Rebecca giving Eliezer water to drink from her pitcher. Decorative handle in the form of the neck of a mandolin. Diameter: 27 cm. Length (including handle): 49 cm.
2. Decorative bowl. At center, cast plaque with relief depicting the biblical scene of the spies returning from Canaan bearing a huge cluster of grapes, along with the captions (Hebrew): "A land flowing with milk and honey" and "State of Israel." Diameter: 34.5 cm.
3. Decorative bowl. At center, cast plaque with relief depicting an Israeli soldier standing guard, with the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem in the background and a row of sabra cactuses in the foreground, along with a caption (Hebrew) imprecisely quoting Isaiah 62:6. Diameter: 32 cm.
