Mid Century Curta Mechanical Calculator in Original Storage Container - A mid century 1955 Curta Type II mechanical calculator by Contina Ltd Mauren, Liechtenstein, serial no. 506383 invented by Curt Herzstark, in original domed black metal case. It features an 11-digit input capability (sliders on the side), an 8-digit revolution counter, and a large 15-digit result counter on top. In working order. Measuring 5 inches H x 3 W. The Curta calculator is widely celebrated as a pinnacle of mechanical engineering-the world's first and only pocket-sized mechanical calculator. Shaped like a small cylinder and affectionately dubbed the pepper grinder, this intricate device allows users to perform precise mathematical calculations entirely through a system of gears, sliders, and a hand crank. It served as the ultimate portable computing tool for engineers, surveyors, and scientists until electronic pocket digital models rendered it obsolete in the 1970s.
