19th C Italian Sorrento Marquetry Jewellery Box / Trinket Box, C. 1880 - The hinged lid illustrating a marquetry vignette depicting a young peasant couple - the young man seated next to a young woman spinning wool with a spindle and distaff. The plain interior retaining what appears to be its original lock mechanism, the underside of the base lined in old green baize. This could also function as a very handsome cigar box / humidor. Measuring 4 inches high x 11 wide x 7.5 deep.
