Indian Wars 1879 Regulation Muskrat Winter Hat - This appears to be a scarce Indian wars era pattern 1879 cold-weather winter hat made of muskrat fur. This is near exact to many example illustrated in headgear book including the Smithsonian book on American headgear. This one in excellent condition, showing very slight use no rips or tears. Liner is present and intact separating a bit towards crown. Cloth sweatband also in nice shape. This one is a really nice example of a piece of Indian wars era headgear, not often encountered!
