A RARE PRE WORLD WAR 2 NEW YEAR BLESSING POST CARD FROM VIZNITZ REBBE. 1938 - A happy New Year card from Rabbi Menachem Mendel Hager of Viznitz through the Bronx New York office. Rabbi Menachem Mendel Hager (1885–1941) was a prominent Hasidic spiritual leader, Torah scholar, and the founder of the Vishiva Hasidic dynasty. He was the eldest son of Rabbi Yisrael Hager (the revered Ahavas Yisrael), the fifth Grand Rebbe of the massive Vizhnitz Hasidic dynasty. Widely recognized as the author of the Torah commentary She'aris Menachem and the founder of the prestigious Yeshivat Beit Yisrael in Ober-Visheu, he passed away in 1941 (on the 18th of Adar, 5701 in the Hebrew calendar), just before the tragic liquidation of his community during the Holocaust.
