Herzl was an Hungarian Jewish journalist, lawyer, writer, playwright and political activist who was the father of Zionism. Herzl formed The Zionist Organization and promoted an effort to form a Jewish state. The catalyst for his Zionism was his coverage of the Dreyfus trial. This letter, dated in Vienna on October 12, 1900, discusses the plight of 400 workers and families that were desperate for work. It is asked that this letter be circulated and published. 8.5” x 11”. Housed in a larger 23.5” x 18.5” frame along with a print of Dreyfus and a first date cover of the Dreyfus stamp issued in Israel.
