A LARGE BEZALEL STERLING SILVER AND STONE MOUNTED ETROG CONTAINER. - Jerusalem, c. 1920. On a round foot decorated with beading and applied filigree formed in a six pointed star. The stem is decorated with applied filigree and appropriate Bezalel plaque. The lower portion is decorated with applied silver plaques, each containing a Holy Land scene and acid etched design. The mid-section with a biblical excerpt relating to the fruit of the hadar tree. The upper portion is further decorated with acid etched designs and three applied polished hard stones. The apex with more wire work and fitted with a red colored stone. Signed. A near identical etrog box sold in Sotheby’s Tel Aviv, October 2000, lot 166 and again in Sotheby’s New York December 2007, lot 105. 9.5” tall. Estimate $9,000 - 12,000
