AN EXCEPTIONAL “REBBISHE” SILVER KIDDUSH CUP. - Eastern Europe (Galicia), c. 1800. The bottom with a diamond cut very rarely found grip. The midsection is engraved with outwardly facing pairs of birds, each flanking a cartouche. In one cartouche, engraved is the biblical commandment to Remember the Sabbath Day. The other cartouche is engraved with the name of the former owner: Elchonon song of Azriel. The third cartouche is engraved with a portion of the sabbath morning kiddush. Fitted with the original lid. Marked with a 12 mark as well as a maker. 6.2” tall. Estimate $20,000 - 25,000
