Camille Pissarro (1855-1903)
Pissarro was born into a French Jewish Spanish family and lived most of his life in Paris and the surrounding area. He was a member of the Impressionism movement and many of his works depict natural landscapes and rural life.
Embedded in one of the medals, in a silk print, is one of Pissarro's famous paintings depicting a girl washing her feet in a stream. On the back of the medal is another painting by the artist, "Boats".
