ילידת רוסיה למדה ולימדה באקדמיה לאמנות על פי טכניקות הציור הקלאסיות. פיתחה במהלך השנים בארץ, טכניקת ציור אישית שהפכה לשפה ויזואלית ייחודית המזוהה עם סגנון היצירה שלה. הטכניקה הקלסית לא סיפקה את אירנה והיא החלה לפעול "באופן הפוך". אירנה מסירה את הצבע, במקום להסתיר את הבד, וחושפת אותו. הטכניקה אליה הגיע אירנה מעניקה תחושה של קלילות אווירות על הבד.
