CARNOT - BILLAUD-VARENNE - BARERE: A good multiple signed document by Lazare Carnot (1753-1823) French Physicist and politician. Known as the Organizer of Victory in the French Revolutionary Wars, by Jacques Nicolas Billaud-Varenne (1756-1819) French Revolutionary, often considered a key architect of the period known as The Reign of Terror. Nicknamed ''Le Tigre'' (''The Tiger''). Billaud-Varenne was member of the Committee of Public Safety. He was later sentenced to deportation to French Guiana after is involvement in the 12th Germinal insurrection (1st April 1795), and Bertrand Barere (1755-1814) French Politician, Freemason & Journalist, one of the most prominent members of the National Convention during the French Revolution. A good L.S., `approuvé Carnot´, `Billaud-Varenne´, and `B.Barere´, one page, folio, Paris, 24th June 1794, in French. The document being a proposal of appointment sent to the Committee of Public Safety, including the personal details of Etienne Jean Garnon, having served in the Dragons regiment. Approved and signed at the base by four members of the Committee of Public Safety. Also signed by Jean-Baptiste Robert Lindet (1746-1825) French politician. Very small overall age wear. VG
