First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry Civil War Officers Sword, Horstmann - Description: The steel hilt with nickel plating, knuckle bow and two branches of this late 19th century Civil War style sword connect to a stepped pommel and shark skin covered grip with wire wrapping. The curved single edge blade with pipe back and false edge tip are complemented by elaborate eagle, leaf, Indian, arms, tent, F.T.P.C.C. in garland and other etchings. There is a blade base etching for W. H. Horstmann & Sons Philadelphia present. ”Damascus Steel” star is present. The nickel plated steel scabbard has two suspension rings.
