Bidspirit auction | AN EARLY REPLICA GERMAN WWII
AN EARLY REPLICA GERMAN WWII HEER OFFICER’S DAGGER MARKED F.W. HÖLLER, WITH PANZER-STYLE SKULL ENGRAVING AND HANGERS - An early replica, probably made in Poland using original machinery, of a German Army officer’s dress dagger, circa 1935–1945, having a yellow spiral-molded grip between a silvered oak-leaf ferrule and pommel. The obverse crossguard displays the Heer eagle above a wreathed swastika, while the reverse is unusually engraved with a skull and crossbones, traditionally associated with German armored troops. The blade bears the oval thermometer trademark of F.W. Höller, though it says Berlin instead of the correct Solingen. Complete with its silvered, pebbled-metal scabbard with twin oak-leaf suspension bands and rings, together with a pair of silver-brocade dress hangers backed in green velvet and fitted with oak-leaf-decorated buckles, slides and spring clips. Dimensions: L: 15 5/8 in., (39.7 cm.) Condition: Very good, with some surface pitting to blade. All parts tight. Lanyard with some fading/fraying in some places, well preserved for age.
