A TOLEDO GILT DAMASCENE STEEL PLATE, SPAIN, 20TH CENTURY - A brightly damascened steel plate with a wilderness scene manufactured in Toledo, Spain by E. Molina during the 20th century. The scene depicts a herd of deer in a clearing, a stag with large antlers raising his head in alert as he protects the herd, with a mountain looming large in the background. The scene is bordered by mythological motifs and rondels with helmeted cameos, the coat of arms of Spain represented at center-bottom. Toledo, Spain, 20th century. Dimensions: D: 8 5/8 in., (21.9 cm.) Condition: Good overall, with some oxidation, scratching, and minor loss to gilding in places. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
