An Orientalist watercolor and pencil study on paper depicting a bearded man in profile, wearing a red and white turban and a richly embroidered brown cloak over a pale robe. The figure is selectively finished in watercolor, with the lower portion of the garment lightly delineated in pencil, giving the work the character of a preparatory costume or figure study. Signed ”R. Ernst” lower right. Presented under glass in a period-style faux-grained wooden frame. Dimensions: Artwork: 17 3/4 x 10 7/8 (45.1 x 27.6); Frame: 27 1/2 x 20 1/2 in., (69.9 x 52.1 cm.)
