Signed lower right ”Franco Rosso.” The reverse is inscribed ”FRANCO ROSSO 78,” titled ”DRAPPO III, ” and further dedicated in Italian, ”Per Muriel e Gianfranco affettuosamente, ” followed by the artist's signature. The composition depicts the enigmatic face of a woman emerging from behind a weathered, peeling drapery, executed in a richly textured palette of ochre, blue, and cream. The work reflects the artist's interest in illusionistic surfaces and poetic symbolism characteristic of Italian figurative painting of the 1970s. Housed in a carved giltwood frame. Dimensions: 16 1/4 x 12 1/4 in., (41.3 x 31.1 cm.) Condition: The painting appears to be in good overall condition. Minor surface grime and light wear to the frame are consistent with age.
