A SIGNED OIL ON CANVAS STUDY OF A SEATED FEMALE NUDE, 20TH CENTURY - An oil on canvas depicting a seated female nude viewed from behind, her left arm raised to her head and the other extended toward the side. The figure is modeled in warm flesh tones against a loosely rendered studio interior in muted greens, ochres, grays and russet tones. Executed with broad, fluid brushwork, with particular attention to the effects of light across the sitter's back and shoulders. Signed indistinctly at the lower right. Presented in a carved and giltwood frame. The reverse bears several ANOBILT, GLENDALE, N.Y. frame-maker's stamps, the number ”23”. Dimensions: 31 x 23 in., (79 x 59 cm.) Condition: Overall good condition. Minor surface dirt and age-related wear. Canvas appears stable. Frame with scattered losses, abrasions, cracking and wear to the gilt and painted surfaces.
