A RUSSIAN AVANT-GARDE STYLE OIL ON BOARD PAINTING, 20TH CENTURY - An oil on board painting executed in the manner of early 20th-century Russian avant-garde art, depicting a highly stylized standing figure against an abstract geometric background. The elongated figure is constructed from sharply delineated blocks of black, cream, gray, red, and ochre, set against intersecting bands and planes of contrasting color. The composition recalls the geometric vocabulary associated with Russian modernist movements including Suprematism and Constructivism. Bearing the initials ”K.M.” in blue at the lower left. The initials have not been identified and no attribution to a particular artist is intended. Apparently unsigned otherwise. The reverse of the board shows remnants of old paper or adhesive and no visible identifying inscriptions or labels. Dimensions: 24 3/8 x 18 7/8 in., (62 x 48 cm.) Condition: Good overall.
