A ROSENTHAL PORCELAIN PLAQUE ”THE HERMIT,” AFTER SALOMON KONINCK, GERMANY, CIRCA 1934 - Rectangular porcelain plaque finely decorated in polychrome enamels after Salomon Koninck's ”The Hermit, ” depicting an elderly bearded scholar or hermit seated in contemplation before a large open book. The reverse bears the Rosenthal Germany factory mark and gilt inscription ”Einsiedler von S. Koninck 1609-1659, Staatsgalerie Dresden.” Presented in an elaborate gilt and faux-bois Rococo-style frame. Dimensions: 9 1/4 x 7 1/4 in., (23.5 x 18.5 cm.) Condition: Porcelain plaque appears to be in good overall condition, with minor surface wear and no cracks, chips or losses. The verso has been extensively secured with later duct tape.
