A CASED RUSSIAN GOLD, SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND BROOCH - A Russian gold and silver-mounted brooch of elongated marquise form, centered by an oval cabochon sapphire within a rose-gold collet. The sapphire is flanked by symmetrical foliate sprays set with old-cut and rose-cut diamonds in darkened silver settings, including two larger old-cut diamonds. The openwork composition is enclosed within a slender rose-gold frame terminating in pointed ends. Fitted with a gold pin and C-scroll clasp. The pin bears Russian marks including the ”56” zolotnik gold standard and an additional maker's mark. The marks visible in the photographs are not sufficiently clear to permit a confident identification of the maker. Dimensions: L: 2 in., (5 cm.) Condition: Overall good condition.
