FRENCH SILVERED BRONZE CHICKEN-FORM INKWELL, LATE 19TH CENTURY - A highly detailed French bronze sculptural inkwell shaped as a chicken laying on its side, its legs splayed out and its head held up and alert. The hinged lid of the inkwell is disguised as one of the wings of the chicken, which is sculpted on its underside as well. France, 19th century. Dimensions: 10 1/4 x 5 5/8 x 3 3/4 in., (26 x 14.3 x 9.7 cm.) Condition: Antique patina. Fading to silver overlay on edges. Glass insert has a chip on edge. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
